Information Technology (IT), today, is ubiquitous in all organization. Without IT, most of the businesses will come to standstill. Therefore, in current times, the role of IT managers is crucial and critical in successfully managing the organizations. However, even the senior IT managers do not get the stature and respect they deserve in organizations. One of the prime reasons for the same is that IT managers are unable to align themselves with strategy and other functional areas of business. It is perceived that IT managers are very much inward looking focusing on technology rather than business.

This perceived (any often real) gap arises because of lack of formal training in management, which restricts their ability to understand functions of business and its integrated nature. For example, as a part of procurement team they have to understand the entire procurement process, to evaluate benefits of technology investments they have to understand the concepts of finance, to ensure that the technology delivers value to the customer they have to understand marketing, to understand the way business is delivering value to the customers they have to understand strategy, to ensure that technology changes are accepted by the people they have to understand behaviour and change management. It is important that IT managers, especially those who come from engineering or computer science or technical backgrounds understand the business and become integrated part of the scene. This programme has been designed keeping the same into consideration.

 

Course Duration:  Spread over six months

 

Mode of Delivery: The programme will be delivered on JITMRL platform through direct-to-desktop [D2D] held once a week and campus modules at IIM Ahmedabad.

 

Frequency: Once a week

 

Class Schedule: Every Sunday 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM

 

Evaluation Methodology: 

IIM Ahmedabad shall carry out the examination and evaluation required for certification. For more information, please refer the brochure.

 

Evaluation by: IIM Ahmedabad

 

Evaluation Mode: Evaluation may also include one or more of the following: 

Online Assessment/Case Study, Discussions/Quiz/Assignments/Offline Assessment (Paper-pencil test)/Class Participation. The final decision on evaluation methods rests with the course faculty and may change without prior intimation.

 

Certification:

At the end of the Programme, eligible participants will receive a Certificate of Completion (CoC) of the Programme from IIM Ahmedabad subject to the assessment and fulfilment of attaining overall 80% attendance.

 

IIMA Alumni Status:

IIMA Alumni Association: Participants who are attending short-duration Executive Education Programmes for the first time, on or after April 1, 2012, will have to attend for a total of 21 days in one or more programmes in order to be eligible for alumni status and alumni identity card, both of which will be awarded on the payment of a one-time alumni fee of INR 10,000/- + GST. 

Selection:  Selections will be based on evaluation of individual profile & Statement of Purpose (SoP)

3. Managing people and provide leadership

4. Managing technology enabled change

5. Merging digital technologies and learning about their importance for marketing success

Overall, they should be able to participate in strategic discussions and decisions of the organization and actively contribute to the success of the same.

The programme will cover concepts related to the domains of digital marketing, answering some of the following topics:

  • Enterprise Architecture and IT Infrastructure
  • Managing Data and Information
  • Managing People and Change

The course will use case studies, lectures, published works of the faculty chair, and discussion exercises (hands-on, if required) to deliver the content.

The programme is targeted for IT user organizations and consultants. From Software Development organizations it will benefit Business Analysts. All large and medium size companies which have separate IT department. Public sector Units and banks. Government departments which have their IT team.
